BALTIMORE — Lamar Jackson threw two first-half touchdown passes before injuring his left ankle, and the Baltimore Ravens held on without him to beat the Tennessee Titans 24-18 on Sunday, ESPN reported.
Jackson left M&T Bank Stadium with his ankle in a protective boot after missing the second half. He was hurt on Baltimore's last offensive snap before halftime, when Titans defensive end Jermaine Johnson II sacked him from behind, according to ESPN.
"He was just dealing with a little bit of an ankle," Ravens coach Jesse Minter said. "I don't know enough about it right now, but we'll have to see where that's at."
Status hinges on an MRI
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Jackson was believed to be day-to-day, while NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk said he was believed to be week to week, with the final prognosis depending on an MRI.
Before the injury, the two-time NFL MVP completed 15 of 20 passes for 222 yards, the fourth-most passing yards in a first half of his career, ESPN said. He found Zay Flowers for a 19-yard touchdown and Mark Andrews for a 3-yard score that capped a 98-yard drive, the Ravens' official website reported. Tyler Loop's 64-yard field goal at the end of the half made it 24-7.
Offense stalls without its star
Backup Tyler Huntley completed 8 of 9 passes for 63 yards, but Baltimore punted on its first four second-half drives, and Loop missed a 40-yard field goal on the fifth. Derrick Henry ran for 73 yards on 23 carries against his former team and became the first player since Devonta Freeman in 2015 with seven rushing touchdowns in the first four games of a season, according to BaltimoreRavens.com.
"Obviously, we want [Jackson] out there. He's the best player in the NFL," offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley said. "But at the same time, I think we have all the faith in [Huntley] and trust that he can go in there and handle any situation."
The Ravens also lost cornerback Marlon Humphrey (calf), guard Andrew Vorhees (foot) and tight end Durham Smythe (Achilles) during the game. The win snapped a four-game home losing streak dating to last season and lifted Baltimore to 3-1 ahead of a trip to face the Atlanta Falcons next Sunday night.
