What happened in Cardiff
Wales overturned an early deficit to beat 10-man Norway 2-1 in Cardiff and claim their first ever victory in UEFA Nations League A, Sky Sports and the Football Association of Wales reported.
Oscar Bobb put Norway ahead in the 11th minute after a through ball from Martin Odegaard left him one-on-one with Danny Ward. Craig Bellamy's side, still searching for a first point and first goal of the campaign after defeats to Portugal and Denmark, responded with pace down the flanks.
Sorba Thomas repeatedly stretched the visitors, and in the 38th minute Dan James slid home an equaliser from another Thomas delivery.
Red card and Williams free-kick
Chaos marked the restart. Fifteen seconds into the second half, Torbjorn Heggem dragged down James on the edge of the area and was shown a straight red card. Neco Williams smashed the resulting free-kick low to the goalkeeper's right in the 48th minute to complete the turnaround.
Erling Haaland, starting for Norway, headed over from close range and later directed another effort straight at Ward. Wales created further chances through Thomas, Liam Cullen and substitute Josh Sheehan but held firm through a nervy finish as Norway pushed with 10 men.
First League A win
The result is Wales' maiden Nations League A group victory and a first win of 2026 in the competition. Williams told BBC Sport the side had analysed the first two matches and "put it right," while Bellamy called the three points important for confidence against elite opposition. Wales remain in Group A4 alongside Portugal, Denmark and Norway.
